Guy Breedlove, better known as “Pops”, of Quitman, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 in Dallas at the age of 78.
Guy Wyman Breedlove was born on September 20, 1943, in Hollis, Oklahoma to Marion Franklin Breedlove and Annie Manney Breedlove.
After graduating, he became a local banker in Silverton, TX. He was drafted into the Army during Vietnam in 1966. He returned home to run a cotton farm with his brother Van. He moved to East Texas in 1985 after completing OMC Master Technician school, where he began his boat mechanic career. He was a member of the Winnsboro Gun Club. Guy enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, dove hunting, cooking, gardening, watching old westerns and cooking shows, traveling to Port Aransas where he enjoyed the beaches, bay fishing and crab hunting with his family, and creating memorable keepsakes for his friends and family. What he loved the most was spending time with his family and hound dogs.
He is preceded in death by his dad, Marion Franklin Breedlove Sr.; mother, Annie Manney Breedlove; three sisters, Gertrude Elliott, William Lee Fox, and Edwina Smith; and three brothers, Marion Franklin Jr., Wilbur Fate Breedlove, and Norvell Breedlove.
He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Eileen Breedlove of Quitman; his brother, Van Breedlove of Silverton, TX; two daughters, Alisha Alvarado and husband Joey of Lubbock, TX and Sandra Breedlove and wife Amanda of Seminole, FL; and three sons, Josh Breedlove of Scottsdale, AZ, Toby Farnham of Butler, Missouri, and Kenny Farnham and wife Gina of Quitman.
He also leaves behind his six granddaughters, Aleighcca Farnham of Tyler, TX, Kameran Farnham of Quitman, TX, Julie Locke of Wylie, TX, Betsy Castillo of Lubbock, TX, Jade Alvarado of Lubbock, TX, and Kaytlen Jones of Oak Harbor, Washington; and three grandsons, Taylor Farnham of Athens, TX, Zach Alvarado of Lubbock, TX, and Jace Alvarado of Lubbock, TX.
Memorial Services will be held at 10:00AM Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations with Pastor Demethruis Boyd officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Quitman City Cemetery with military honors. Kenny Farnham will serve as an Urn Bearer.
