Gaynor McCord, 83, beloved husband and the best early Dad, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on the 23rd of May 2023. Gaynor was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. McCord. They were married over 58 years.
Gaynor was born the 25th of March 1940 to Edna and Ernest (Guy) McCord in Marietta, TX. He attended Paul Pewitt High School in Naples/Omaha and graduated in 1958. Gaynor met the love of his life, Betty J. McCord (Roberts) and were married on the 12th of September 1958.
Gaynor, Betty, and his son, Todd McCord, made their home in Quitman, TX in 1968. Gaynor was a carpenter, home builder and cabinet maker. At one time, he was also a member of the Quitman Volunteer Fire Department (1970s). He became a Lifelong member of the Parent Teacher Association in 1977. He coached Little League Baseball, too.
Gaynor is survived by his son Todd and his daughter-in-law, Jeane’ McCord; and five grandchildren, Lauryn (married to Matthew Maldonado) of Seguin, TX, SarahLynn, Erin, Reilly and Kasey.
A memorial service for Gaynor will be held sometime in July 2023 at Myrtle Springs Baptist Church in Quitman, TX. Gaynor will be interred at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Marietta, TX, beside his wife at a later date with a private service for local family to be held at that time.
