Frances Marie Davis, age 78, of Quitman, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024. She was born on November 27, 1945, to JC Thornburgh and Pauline (Altizer) Thornburgh.
She married the love of her life CW “Dub” Davis on May 2, 1964 and was a devoted wife until his passing in April 1996. They settled in Quitman and made their home, where she resided for 41 years.
Frances spent her life caring for others including her 3 children, grandchildren and countless others. She was known for her generosity and kind spirit, opening her heart and home to anyone in need.
After a lengthy illness Frances had recently become a valued resident of Caraday Nursing Home in Quitman. She could often be found playing Bingo in the community room, laughing and sharing stories about her family. If you measure a successful life by the amount of love you share, Frances was among the richest. She walked closely with the Lord sharing her faith with all who surrounded her. Often you would hear gospel hymns coming from her room and echoing down the halls. As she enjoyed listening to and singing a variety of old Gospel songs. Never meeting a stranger and with an abundance of love to share, “Franny” as she was lovingly called by many, took the opportunity to get to know each member of the staff making them part of her life.
Proverbs 31:31 says, "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate."
A funeral service celebrating Frances’ life will be held at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at 3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest beside her husband following the service at Silver Lake Cemetery in Van Zandt County. The family will receive friends during visitation on Friday, November 15th at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Frances’ memory to Caraday of Quitman (1026 E. Goode St. Quitman, TX 75783), where she received compassionate care in her final years. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Caraday for their exceptional care, kindness, and support. Additionally, there will be reserved seating for the staff of Caraday at the service.
The family kindly requests that purple and bright colors be worn to honor Mrs. Davis, symbolizing her vibrant personality.
