Eddie Faye Myers, 92, of Mineola, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 29, 2025, at Autumn Winds Assisted Living in Mineola. She looked forward to that day, calling it “a day of joy!”. She had been singing I’ll Fly Away over and over the day before and her daughter, Cindy, sang it to her moments before she died.
She also wrote two wonderful songs, one about her King of Kings and Lord of Lords and another about A New Day Dawning in heaven.
She was born April 7, 1933, to John Dixon Henderson and Bertha Hammond Henderson in Wood County. She was number 13 of 15 children. She was preceded in death by her husband James Myers, her son George (Tony) Spanko and her grandson Trice Spanko. She was preceded in death by 13 of her siblings.
She is survived by her sister, Tita Turner. She is also survived by her son, John Spanko, his wife Carol, and daughter Cindy Addy. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren: Crystal Powell, John Denmon, Emily Tennison, Jessie Allen, Audrey Juenke, Sarah Goessling, and their spouses. Great grandchildren include Ariana Webb, Mikala Walton, Elijah Powell, Ceanna Powell, Ilayna Powell, Cole Denmon, Max Denmon, Sam Denmon and Trent Albert. Other great grandchildren include Calvin Tennison, Elton Tennison, Theo Goessling, Penelope Goessling, Camden Allen, and Madison Allen. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She loved them all. She was a wonderful mother to her 3 children, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Hubbard Chapel Baptist Church with burial in Concord Cemetery next to her husband and son. Her grandson John Denmon will officiate. Visitation is at 1:00 PM at the church with the service following at 2:00.
Special thanks to Autumn Winds. She was loved and cared for by the staff and the residents. They called her “the singer.” Special thanks to Reflection Hospice also. Natasha and Danielle were wonderful to her and the family.
