“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” -Matthew 11:28
Douglas “Doug” Wade Hobbs, 43, of Quitman, passed away on September 27th, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on December 7th, 1982, in Stockbridge, Georgia, to Johnny and Veta Hobbs.
Doug graduated from Morrow High School in Georgia. He earned his electrical contractor’s license and became a master electrician by the age of 24. Ten years ago, he moved with his family from Ellenwood, Georgia, to Quitman. He worked for Chambers Electric for five years before going into business for himself.
Outside of his passion for being an electrician, Doug loved spending time with his wife and kids most of all. He enjoyed watching football and NASCAR, listening to music while cooking with his wife and girls, grilling with his boys, and being in the outdoors whether it was camping, hunting, or fishing. All of these things he loved doing, especially with his family.
“We love you Daddy. You’ll forever be missed”
Doug is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Galon and Ernestine Walker.
He is survived by his wife, Chrystal Diane Hobbs; five children, Bryson Douglas Hobbs, Cameron Wade Hobbs, Laila Ailene Hobbs, Cecilia Diane Hobbs of Quitman, and stepson Gage Alexander Couch, Chattanooga, TN; parents, Johnny and Veta Walker Hobbs of Quitman; two brothers, John Kerry Hobbs and wife Karen of Shorewood, IL, and Wesley Alan Hobbs of Quitman; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All of these things are gone forever.” -Revelation 21:4
