Dorothy Morris

Dorothy Laverne Morris, age 88, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2018, in Quitman, TX.

Dorothy was born on July 19, 1929 in Atlanta, TX to Neuman Gholson and Vinnie (Holman) Gholson.

Dorothy was married to Walter Morris for 48 years until his passing in 2007. They lived in Quitman more than 50 years and were members of Cartwright Baptist Church. Dorothy was also a member of the Eastern Star in Quitman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Neuman and Vinnie Gholson; her husband Walter Morris; 2 brothers, Eugene Gholson and Edward Gholson; 3 sisters, Louise Nettles, Gloria Faye Dixon and Alice Betts; 1 stepson, Jim Morris.

Left to cherish her memory are 3 sisters, Evelyn McKee of Corrigan, TX, Barbara Gholson of Cheney, KS, Opel Helton of Kingwood, TX; several grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Dorothy Morris will be held at Lowe Funeral Home on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 11 AM, with Bro. Cody Mize officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Union Springs Cemetery in Corrigan, TX.
