Doris Olene Harris

Doris Olene Harris, born Oct. 5, 1927, died Dec. 11, 2013 after a short illness but after a long and happy life. Doris was beloved and known as Mother, Aunt, Grandmother, Nanny, & Momma D. She began her adult career as a nurse for a cardiologist in Lubbock, TX. She and her husband moved to Quitman in 1959. She was a proud mother of 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Harris, brother Melvin Reeb, sister Lois Baker and her parents Vella & Tom Rape.
Doris is survived by 3 children and their spouses that she loved dearly; Gay Nell Williams and her husband Kenneth, Ronny Ward and his wife Cindy, Earlene Fogle and her husband Bobby. The five grandchildren she practically raised; Melissa Segleski, Brad Williams, Ashley Ward, Joey Fogle & Hank Fogle. The five great grandkids that always put a smile on her face; Kaylah Segleski, Kasie Segleski, Karson Williams, Elessa Cary and Lyndsey Cary; her brother Nelson Rape & wife Drulene and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday December 14 at First Baptist Church Quitman with Brothers Fred Morrow and James Nickell officiating with interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola under the direction of Lowe Funeral Home of Quitman. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
