David Gabriel Hernandez, age 51 went to be with his King Jesus Christ to enjoy everlasting life on Friday, January 20th, 2023, he was surrounded by his family.

David was born in El Paso, Texas on May 24, 1971, to Pedro Hernandez and Irene Parra. He married the love of his life, Yvette Barraza and together they welcomed two children, David Wrangler and Kassidy Rose.

The Hernandez family settled in east Texas. David was strong in his faith and a founding pastor at Iglesia Reunion De Vaqueros in Quinlan where he served for 10 years. After moving to Wood County David founded the Remnant Vaquero church in Wood County.

David’s everyday occupation was a master plumber, but he had so many other amazing skills and passions. He took great joy in gathering with his family and friends to serve God and fellowship. David loved to prepare wonderfully delicious meals especially smoked brisket. If David was cooking, you’d want to be there.

One of David’s passions was his game cock breeding program, “hang'n line game”. He loved spending time with his grandson Wilder tending to his chickens.

David also enjoyed Native American silversmithing, his “Rustic Ranchero” collection was made with sterling silver, gold, and genuine turquoise stones that he hand chose. His beautiful creations were made by his hands with special care and are completely one of a kind.

David was a very talented bold and creative man. He loved to include his family in all of his craftsmanship, and they will proudly continue his legacy. David was a true cowboy and this was shown through every aspect of his life. There was not a day that went by where he wouldn’t wear a cowboy hat and boots. He loved roping, riding, and training horses.

Another one of his passions was cooking out of his antique chuckwagon. David and his family participated in several Chuckwagon competition events in which he cooked over the fire with cast iron. In David’s last Chuckwagon competition his team won first place, his amazing food truly embraced his culture.

Some things he loved doing on his ranch were hunting, fishing, raising livestock, and working in his garden.  He continued to enjoy his land passionately every day.

Those who surrounded David, took great pleasure in observing the joy and the love for Jesus Christ he brought to everyone around him. He was a true commandment keeper of God and had a natural disposition for always helping and giving to others in times of need.
