Darrell Bruce Bucy, a beloved husband, father, and Pawpaw, passed away on August 28, 2023, at his home in Alba, TX, at the age of 67. Darrell was born on October 7, 1955, in Waco, TX to Larry Bruce Bucy and Patricia Ann Palmer.
After graduating high school, Darrell enlisted in the United States Army. Darrell had a distinguished career in the military, serving for a remarkable 34 years until his retirement in 2009. Throughout his military career, he attained the prestigious rank of First Sergeant (1SG) and became a highly skilled helicopter mechanic, contributing his skills and expertise to the defense of the nation. His commitment to his country and patriotism were evident in every aspect of his life.
In his spare time, Darrell loved to fish and was a proud member of the Army Anglers, a club at Lake Fork Marina and Motel. He found joy in casting his line and taking his grandkids out on the boat. He loved to fish for Catfish and always enjoyed a good plate of Crappie. His grandkids affectionately called him "Pawpaw," and his love for them knew no bounds.
Darrell's passion for woodworking was also well-known. He was particularly skilled in making bowls and pens, showcasing his craftsmanship and attention to detail. His love for golf was unparalleled. He spent countless hours on the green, perfecting his swing and enjoying the game.
Darrell also had profound admiration for the bald eagles that graced the skies above Lake Fork. He enjoyed eagle watching and appreciated their beauty.
Darrell’s love for his family was immeasurable. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Theresa “Beba” Bucy, whom he married on December 22, 1993 in White Settlement, TX.
Darrell’s legacy as a dedicated soldier, loving husband, father, and cherished Pawpaw will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His patriotism and love for his family will forever be remembered and celebrated.
He greets in Heaven his mother, Patricia Ann Sutton and husband Frank; father, Larry Bruce Bucy; and grandparents, Roy Bruce Bucy and Mabel Bucy.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Theresa “Beba” Bucy of Alba; five sons, Jeff Bruce Bucy, and Brian Bucy and wife Alexia, Phillip Wayne Dewoody, David Dewoody and wife Michelle, Robert Earl Cass and wife Jessica; one sister, Cheryl Snider and husband Russ; 10 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
