Danny Howle Weems, 76, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, in Tyler, Texas.
Danny was born on February 22, 1949, in Mineola, Texas, to Samuel Robert Weems and Mary Jeanette Howle Weems. He was raised on a dairy farm, where he learned the value of hard work at an early age, milking cows by hand and embracing the ranching lifestyle taught by his parents. Those early lessons stayed with him throughout his life, ultimately leading him to become a cattle rancher.
Danny had a deep appreciation for good food and good company. Barbecue was a particular favorite, and he made it a point to sample BBQ everywhere he traveled, always in search of the best. He was a regular visitor to the Fort Worth Stockyards and livestock shows, places that reflected his lifelong love of ranching and agriculture. Danny was a proud graduate of the Class of 1967 at Quitman High School.
An adventurer at heart, Danny traveled extensively and proudly visited all 48 contiguous United States. His trips were often planned around golf destinations, as golf was one of his greatest passions. He also enjoyed attending car shows and was an avid train enthusiast. In his quieter moments, he could often be found sampling cigars and craft beers, always on the hunt for exceptional ones.
Above all else, Danny’s greatest love was his family, especially his children, son Sean Weems and daughter Abby Weems Delgadillo.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Robert Weems and Mary Jeanette Howle Weems; his brother, Wyndale Lynn Weems; and an infant brother, Larry Robert Weems.
He is survived by his son, Sean Weems and wife, Samantha; daughter, Abby Weems Delgadillo and husband Jose; sister-in-law, Naomi Weems; grandson, Waylon Weems; nephew, Brent Weems; and many cousins and friends who will cherish his memory.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. at Faith Baptist Church in Quitman, Texas (405 S. Hart St., Quitman, Texas 75783).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
