Cody Joe Henderson Sr., age 45, died on February 15, 2026, in Quitman, Texas. He was born on April 4, 1980, in Pittsburg, Texas, to John Wesley Henderson III and Letta Humphreys.
Cody lived in Quitman for most of his life and attended Quitman High School. He later attended Tyler Junior College, where he studied construction-related coursework. He worked in construction for most of his life, most recently with a company installing basketball goals.
Cody enjoyed fishing, building projects, and wood burning. He valued time spent with his children and looked forward to taking his grandchildren fishing.
Throughout his life, Cody experienced significant personal loss. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Henderson III and Letta Humphreys; an infant lost through miscarriage; his best friend, Matt Crowell; paternal grandparents, James Duke and Juanita (Farmer) Henderson; maternal grandparents, William Theodore Dollar and Letta Fern (Golightly) Dollar; two aunts, Margie Davis and Rose Sherrin; five uncles, Paul Henderson, Steven Henderson, Joe Henderson, Roger Henderson, and Lodes Sherrin; and cousins, Terri Jo Paris, Keisha McPherson, and Justine McPherson.
Cody is survived by his four children, Lauren Martinez and husband Isaiah, Cody Joe Henderson II, James Raymond Luke Henderson and wife Hailey, and Shanna La’Rie Lynn Henderson and fiancé Jacob Nash; two siblings, Leanna Hofmeister and husband Curtis and John Wesley Henderson IV; four grandchildren, Khamari Jacob Sanders, Alan James Henderson, Jack Wendell Henderson, and Jordan Keilyn Clint Nash; one grandchild on the way; nieces and nephews, Haley Christensen, Will Hofmeister, Danielle Hofmeister, Wes Henderson, and Jennah Latham; one great nephew, five great nieces, and many cousins and extended family members.
