Cathleen âPeteâ Kennard
Funeral service for Mrs. Cathleen âPeteâ Kennard of Quitman is scheduled for 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Keefe Cropper and Fred Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday evening at the funeral home. Pete died November 7, 2018 at her daughterâs home in Quitman at the age of 97.
Pete was born October 29, 1921 in Quitman to Luther and Flora (Gleaton) Kirbo and lived most of her life in Quitman. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty United Methodist Church where she served in communion preparation and floral ministries. Pete also enjoyed gardening, served as a volunteer at the nutrition center and was a member of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Kennard; parents, Luther and Flora Kirbo; daughters, Floy Eiline Harbin and Flora Elizabeth Harbin; sisters Lizzie Belle Stevens Thomas, Josephine Jeffery and Pauline Deuson, her brother John Kirbo and son-in-law Jerry Potts.
Left to cherish Peteâs memory are her daughter Neva Potts, Quitman; sisters Iwiana Atchley, Houston and Julia Faye Johnson, Quitman; grandson Jeff Potts, West Virginia; grandchildren Jeremy Potts and wife Emily, Oklahoma City, OK; Randi Anderson, Oklahoma City, OK and Gerald Potts, II, West Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bobby Kirbo, Michael Smith, Tom Bingham, David Johnson, Donal Johnson and Tommy Atchley. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Deuson , Matthew Smith and Ernie Largent
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinsonâs Foundation, American Cancer Society or Liberty United Methodist Church.
