Calvin Wayne Jones, known to most as Wayne, passed away on October 22, 2026, in Tyler, Texas, at the age of 79. He was born on August 10, 1947, in Honey Grove, Texas, to Calvin M.J. Jones and Bertha Mae (Beard) Jones.

On February 14, 1965, Wayne married his soulmate and the love of his life, Linda, in Dallas, Texas. Their marriage was one filled with love, devotion, and countless memories made throughout their 61 wonderful years together. Through all of life's ups and downs, they remained by each other's side, building a beautiful life and family together.

Wayne dedicated 30 years of his life to the trucking and air freight industry, working as a truck driver for UPS Cartage Services and Emery Worldwide. He took great pride in his work and often spoke of the fulfilling career he enjoyed in trucking and air freight handling throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. In 2017, Wayne and Linda moved from Dallas to Quitman, where they looked forward to slowing down and enjoying their retirement years together.

Wayne enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially when he had the opportunity to go fishing. He was also quite the tinkerer and loved working with his hands, fixing things, and figuring out how things worked. Whether he was repairing something around the house or finding a new project to keep himself busy, Wayne always enjoyed having something to work on.

Above all, Wayne was a proud and loving father and devoted husband. His children meant the world to him, and he loved them dearly. He took great pride in his family, and the life he built with Linda and their children was among his greatest accomplishments.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin M.J. Jones and Bertha Mae Jones; brother, David Jones, and sister, Martha Jean Jones.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda Jones of Quitman; son, Allen Wayne Jones; daughter, Tammie Jones; sister, Becky Harmon; nephews, Jason Jones and David Lee Sharp; brother in law, Joe Harper; and friends, Clif Bellew, Jay Gorman, Gary Kratz, and Jackie Springer.

Funeral service for Mr. Jones will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations. Graveside services will follow at Quitman Cemetery.

The family will receive friends during visitation on Tuesday evening, October 27, 2026 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations.
