Eugene Brian Greer, 52, of Deport, Texas, passed away on June 16, 2025. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on December 19, 1972 to Eugene Greer and Geneva Sue (Fletcher) Griffin.
Eugene married the love of his life, Kay Morris, on June 6, 2007, at Sand Springs Baptist Church in Mineola, Texas. Together, they built a life grounded in love, faith, and family. A hardworking man, Eugene spent 23 years as a truck driver and was the proud owner of his own business, 5GBK Transport, for 14 years. His truck, lovingly named “Peanut Butter,” was a reflection of his fun spirit and dedication to the road. He was a proud member of the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA), and his work and reputation were respected by many in the trucking community.
Eugene also served with the Wood County Sheriff’s Posse, and when he wasn’t on the road, he found joy riding his motorcycle through the Northeast Texas countryside. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting deer, pigs, and coyotes, and he never missed a chance to fire up the grill for his family and friends. A passionate collector of firearms and a protector at heart, Eugene was a man who stood firm in his values.
More than anything, Eugene loved his family. He was a proud “Pop Pop” or “Pops” who took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren and watching his family grow.
He is preceded by his parents Eugene Greer and Geneva Sue Griffin.
He is survived by his wife Kay Greer of Deport, TX; seven children Kristena Payne of Tyler, Heather Bowring and husband Justin of Yantis, Brooke Ponder of Yantis, Aaron Greer and wife Kimi of Yantis, Chance Greer of Winnsboro, Emma Miller and husband Dakota of Winnsboro, and Kyle Greer of College Station; two brothers Bobby Keith Greer and wife Rhonda of Deport, and James Greer of Mineola; 15 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and “adopted” grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
