Bobbie Dee Pannell, 99, of Alba, was born June 4, 1926, in Keene, Texas, to Thad and Ethel Harrison, and passed away February 14, 2026, in Frankston, Texas.
Bobbie met John Pannell while attending school in Bonnerdale, Arkansas, and they married on March 10, 1945. Five children were born to this union.
Bobbie had the gift of hospitality and many, many people were fed at her table. She was the best bread maker, baking ten loaves at a time by hand. Her rolls, pies, cakes, and cornbread were a staple at family gatherings.
There were numerous camp-outs on the lake while raising their children and Bobbie would cook for all of them on a Coleman stove. She often drove the boat while her children skied, was a challenge at the ping pong table, and could jump rope with the best of them. She provided so many cherished memories on her farm for all her grandchildren.
Bobbie suffered severe burns in 1947, and was told she would never walk again. Her determination and hard work proved the doctors wrong. She was a strong woman who has killed two snakes with her walking cane and dealt with two skunks invading her home. She had a good sense of humor and always had a funny comeback. Bobbie had a huge love of babies and animals and that love was returned.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother, and her husband, John Pannell.
She is survived by her five children: Joe Pannell and his wife Peg; Gene Pannell and his wife Rita; Peggy Chrusciaki and her husband Robin Shuman; Dennis Pannel and his wife Cindy; and Donna Aitken. She is also survived by six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service for Bobbie Pannell will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 22, 2026 at Cottonwood Cemetery in Alba, Texas. Viewing and visitation will be held one hour prior to the graveside service, beginning at 12:00 PM at the cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Ron Venters, Ryan Pannell, Troy Pannell, Nick Asbury, Dustin Asbury, Hayden Asbury, and Jude Oster.
