Betty Sue Moore Usery- September 8, 1935 – October 21, 2025

Betty Sue Moore Usery passed peacefully from this world in her sleep on Tuesday morning October 21, 2025. She was in the home she loved with family around her, just as she wanted.

Sue was an Adamson High School graduate in 1952. Growing up in Oak Cliff, she met her first husband and the love of her life, Lon Burnett at the Polar Bear Ice Cream Shop on Colorado Boulevard. Together they raised their only child, Elizabeth Roe Burnett, and enjoyed many happy years together.

She was a “stay at home” mother, a fantastic cook and a home interior designer. While she had no formal education in design, it was a God-given talent that she excelled at; both at the beginning of her short working career and later in her own home. She had an “eye” for beauty that could be seen by all that knew her.

In later years, she was employed by the Dallas County Government, working in the Constables office in Irving, which is where she met and married the second love of her life, Don Usery. When Sue and Don retired, they had their home built in East Texas and enjoyed many happy years together. That home was her heaven on earth.

Sus is survived by her only child, Elizabeth Roe Medina and her husband Joe of Winnsboro, Texas; her grandson Jordan Dean Muncrief and his wife Rachael of Sandia Park, New Mexico; her sister Melanie Wilson and her husband George of Georgetown, Texas; along with several nieces and nephews and their families.

Sue will be interred at Holly Tree Cemetery beside her husband with graveside services on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 1:00PM. The family would like to invite anyone who would like to join for fellowship and snacks after the service at the Fellowship Hall at the Holly Lake Church of Christ.

A special thank you from Sue’s family goes out to Hospice of East Texas and their compassionate staff
