Bert Cox

Bert Cox, long time resident of Mineola, passed away on September 2, 2023 at his home on Lake Holbrook.   Bert was born in Upstate, New York on August 27, 1945 and came to Texas in 1982 when his employer asked for volunteers to transfer to Arlington.   In his career, Bert was a quality control supervisor and a long-time employee of Azon Corporation.

His knowledge of wood working, plumbing and carpentry skills served him well as he continued to build and renovate his own homes and rental properties throughout his life.  As an avid fan of NASCAR and Saturday night car races, he seldom missed a race and traveled to various tracks to be with friends. 

As a Navy veteran and man of faith with strong Christian values, over the years, Bert had attended the United Methodist Church in Mineola.  He will be fondly remembered as a generous and caring friend who devoted many hours to Meals on Wheels, Friends of Lake Holbrook and to helping his close friends and neighbors.  Left to mourn their loss and reminisce are Doug and Shelly Tierney, all his close friends in Mineola, Rhome, and Arlington, Texas. 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, October 16, 2023, Lowe-Gardner Funeral Home in Quitman.
