Ara "AJ" Jeannette Wells

Ara “AJ” Jeannette Wells, age 76 of Quitman, Texas, entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday February 15, 2022. She was born on January 26, 1946, in Tishomingo, Mississippi to the late James and Annie Martin.

AJ loved plants and enjoyed working in her garden. She also loved her two dachshunds, Annie and Max. She was a Quitman resident for 20 years and attended the Wood County Cowboy Church.

AJ spent most of her career working in real estate as a mortgage loan closer. Prior, she owned a private investigation company. She later met John Carlon “JC” Wells in Longview, Texas. The couple fell in love and were soon married. After they married, she moved to Quitman and helped run the family business, Wells Land & Cattle Company.

AJ is now reunited with her parents, James and Annie Martin, and her husband, John Carlon “JC” Wells.

Her memory will be cherished by her daughter, Melissa Stephens of Winnsboro; stepdaughter, Lisa Rockhill and husband Don of Quitman; stepson, James Franklin of Quitman; six grandchildren, Sarah Hassell and husband Anthony of Quitman, Samantha Taylor and husband Mark of Quitman, Logan Bradley of Belgrade, Montana, Brandon Franklin and wife Danielle of Lindale, Alexia Franklin of Quinlan, and Ariel Mitchell and husband Chad of Longview; and her two fur babies, Annie and Max.  

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola with Pastor Keith Sparkman officiating. 

Serving as pallbearers are, Don Rockhill, Anthony Hassell, Mark Taylor, Brandon Franklin, Larry Hassell, and John Johnson. 

Serving as honorary pallbearer is Terry Mackey.
