Funeral services for Amanda Susan Gunn Sekour 38 of Dripping Springs, Texas are scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday, January 2, 2016 First Baptist Church Quitman with Rev. Dewey Davidson and Mike Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in Myrtle Springs Cemetery, Wood County. Viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday evening at Lowe Funeral Home Quitman.

Amanda was born March 10, 1977 in Killeen, TX to Thomas and Beverly Foster Gunn and passed away December 28, 2015 in Quitman. She moved to Quitman in 1990 with her family. Amanda graduated in 1995 from Quitman High School. Upon graduation she attended Baylor University where she obtained her BA in International Studies. She then received her MA from the University of Houston in Linguistics. While attending the University of Houston, she worked for Rice University in the International Student Department. Amanda then moved to Seattle, Washington. She later moved to Austin and taught ESL at the University of Texas at Austin for one and 1/2 years.

She is survived by her parents, Thomas Allen and Beverly Foster Gunn of Quitman; 1 son, Leo Marius Sekour, Dripping Springs and 2 daughters, Evalyn Dorothy Sekour and Elora Faith Sekour both of Dripping Springs; 1 brother and family, Major Benjamin David Foster Gunn and wife Molly and daughters, Liberty, Adeline, Pepper and Ruby of Dripping Springs; 1 sister, Crickett Gunn Hardy and husband Hayland and daughters, Hope, Hayle, Hannah and Haven of Quitman and 2 foster sisters, Misty Michelle Wapiennik of Quitman and Chelsey Larae Barrick of Ft. Worth.
Amanda is also survived by her aunts and uncles; Sylvia Gunn Orton of Johnson City, William and Barbara Chadwick of Rusk, Tim and Mary Son of San Antonio, John and Pam Starr of Richland Springs; cousins, Lee Orton and Samantha Rubillo, Michael and Kevin Chadwick, Jessica Starr and Sarah Locker, John Seelye and Elizabeth Miller.
