Alice Looney, age 81, of Quitman passed away on April 26, 2020 in Tyler. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, on Saturday May 2, 2020 at the Lake Fork Cemetery with Bro. Jim Parker officiating; honorary pallbearers will be, Ward Looney, Scott Estoll, Robert Looney, Chad Looney, Brad Looney, and P.J. Looney. Services are under the direction of Lowe Funeral Home in Quitman.
Alice Day Looney was born on March 12, 1939 in Saint Jo, Montague County, Texas, to Jesse Day Roberts and his wife Gracie Luella (Branch) Roberts. On July 11, 1955 she married Edward “Pete” Looney, they lived in Denton, Texas for many years before coming to Quitman, Texas in 2013. Alice spent more than 30 years managing Dairy Queen Restaurants and returned to school in her 50’s to earn her associate's degree in occupational therapy, a field in which she worked for another 10 years before retirement. Alice and Pete were members of the Sand Springs Baptist Church, and she particularly enjoyed her involvement with the Caring Hearts Ministry. Pete preceded Alice in death in 2014.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Karen Schulz and husband Gordon of Quitman; sons, Edward Looney and wife Marjorie of Corinth, Floyd Anthony Looney and wife Robin of Denton; William Looney and wife Angie, Lubbock and Pete Looney of Corinth; sister, Ann Thompson of Denton; brothers, Julius Roberts and wife Maria of Lake Dallas, Billy Ray Roberts of Lovington, New Mexico, Paul Roberts of Bonham; 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
